Robin Thomas & Jenna Rohrbacher Workshops July 22, 23, & 24th 2011

Portland welcomes back Robin Thomas with Jenna Rohrbacher. Robin is a local favorite dancer, teacher and DJ. Having been to Portland 24 times in 10 years this is Robin’s first time teaching workshops outside of our festivals. I hope you can take advantage of this special and affordable opportunity to work with Robin and Jenna in a small and intimate setting.

ROBIN’S BIO: A well-known and respected dancer and DJ, Robin's enthusiasm for Argentine tango can be seen most clearly in his wholehearted dedication to teaching. He believes that it is very important for students to dance simply and musically from the very beginning. Building that strong base of connection and musicality early, Robin believes, will allow even very new beginners to feel comfortable and confident on a crowded dance floor and will also lead to a more comprehensive and fluid understanding of more complicated techniques later on. Robin's teaching style reflects this philosophy, and his students appreciate the humorous but still down-to-earth way he presents the material.

BIO

Gustavo Benzecry Sabá & María Olivera met in 2003 in the occasion of a class Gustavo was teaching at a small dance Studio in Palermo. Shortly after Maria became his assistant teacher at Salón Canning. They learned how to know each other as dancers, teachers and human beings. Little by little, they discovered the love.

They’ve been teaching regular classes at Salón Canning for four years and they tour the world participating in Festivals and International Tango events.

In their classes, good spirit, kindness and warmth are the highlights. This way, they lead their students throughout a pleasant learning process. Gustavo brings wisdom and thoughtfulness as he projects serenity and patience. María injects energy, liveliness, passion and dynamism.

When they dance, they show their love for each other, the happiness of sharing the warmth of a cozy embrace and the fantasy of a movie where the audience is nothing but an active member of the story.
